Environmental Stewardship
Turning Challenges Into Opportunity

The Texas Panhandle is a national leader in beef and dairy—but we’re also at the epicenter of water stress and wildfire risk. At The RANGE, these challenges are opportunities for smart, profitable solutions.
AgriShield: Protecting Our Land with Data
AgriShield is our wildfire and soil moisture monitoring pilot, developed in response to the loss of over one million acres in 2024. It uses field sensors, connected via rural broadband, to:
-
Detect wildfire and drought risk early.
-
Alert ranchers, emergency services, and utility providers.
-
Inform smarter irrigation and land-use decisions.
Funded by the Amarillo Area Foundation. We welcome partners for deployment, funding, and stakeholder engagement.
Cleaner, Smarter Beef and Dairy
In partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture:
-
We’re measuring methane emissions from local herds.
-
Testing natural feed additives that reduce emissions by up to 40%.
-
Publishing regionally relevant data to help farmers reduce costs and participate in carbon markets.
Waste Less, Grow More
We’re also working to:
-
Convert manure into efficient fertilizer.
-
Reuse water on dairy operations.
-
Develop compostable net wrap for silage and forage.
Why It Matters
Responsible production practices strengthen the market value of Panhandle beef and dairy—making environmental stewardship a smart business decision.
